An old fashioned restaurant-inn

Welcome

Former pupil of Bernard Dubois, Président Eisenhowers personal chef, and of Louis Prunies, both chefs and founders of the restaurant "La Casserole" (the saucepan) at Montmartre, Paris, DANIEL DARTHIAL first discovered his love of cookery at the age of 19, bathing in this particular atmosphere where political and showbiz personalities rubbed shoulders.

Son, grandson and great grandson of a butcher and delicatessen, DANIEL GUILLAUMET (a descendant of the family of the illustrious aviator Henry Guillaumet) respects the tradition of taking on the family business in 1976 at Quincy-Voisin, Seine and Marne, in the region of Meaux. In 1996, he decides to break with this family tradition and go into catering, something he'd always dreamed of.

Through their meeting, comes the idea of founding an establishment in rural surroundings with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Chance leads them to HUISNES SUR MER, where they literally fall in love with this beauty spot with an incredible view of Saint Michael's mount and open " LA CASSEROLE DE LA BAIE".

This small bar-tobacconist, the last business in the village, was about to close down. Three months refurbishment has made it into a confortable restaurant and hotel, with a warm atmosphere that they've decorated themselves with furniture, old curios and clocks from their families. The painting are by Daniel Darthial himself.

It's in these surroundings that DANIEL DARTHIAL offers his traditional and hearty cooking as well as many regional dishes made with local produce.
DANIEL GUILLAUMET will happily welcome and serve you. He won't hesitate to explain to you the making of the dishes and tell you the story of " La Casserole de la Baie ".
